Diagnosis
MentionBench Consulting LLC sells one offer—AEO/GEO Engagement—people + acceptance criteria + accountability. Diagnosis is the bounded first step inside that Engagement: a review of your site and competitors so you know what to change first, why, and what “done” looks like. Assess is an optional narrative alias for Diagnosis (1:1)—not a separately priced tier. We do not promise rank position, share-of-voice leadership, every AI answer, or permanent occupancy.
Updated 2026-08
Method cadence: see Resources · What changed (Aug 2026).
Built for North American advertising, PR, consulting, and IT SMBs that can change the site but need a named person to prioritize and ship to a published bar. Buyer objections live on FAQ. Naming lives on Glossary. Path contrast lives on Compare.
What we review
We review your site for existence (coverage), structured readability, and cross-platform consistency of wording—then add a one-time competitor mention-style contrast so gaps and high-leverage fixes are ordered, not guessed.
- Existence / coverage — Are the answers and entities that matter for your category present and findable?
- Structure / readability — Can machines and people parse the page (entities, FAQ-style clarity, answer-ready structure)?
- Cross-platform consistency — Do key facts and wording match across surfaces you control?
- One-time competitor contrast — Where do named peers show up on relevant prompts relative to you—once, for prioritization, not as always-on monitoring?
What you provide
Email [email protected] with a short brief (not a self-serve scan form):
- Your website URL (and any key subdomains or properties in scope)
- Your category / ICP (who you sell to; what “relevant prompts” should mean)
- A competitor list (names/URLs you want contrasted once)
We confirm written scope before work starts. Delivery timing is agreed after the consult—not marketed as a one-click score wall.
What you get
Diagnosis ships three extractable deliverables—plus a locked prompt panel with baseline recorded:
- Readiness conclusion — where you are blocked on existence, structure, and consistency signals
- Competitor gap table — one-time mention-style contrast against the agreed peer set
- Prioritized fix list — actionable, ordered: what to change first and why
(Audit on peer sites ≈ this Diagnosis landing. We use Diagnosis as the public name.)
Sample Snapshot outline
A Diagnosis Snapshot is a written report—not a live product screenshot wall. Typical chapter titles:
- Site readiness
- Competitor gap
- Priority fixes
- Locked prompts & baseline
- Recommended next scope
What this is not
Diagnosis is not:
- Monitoring SaaS or an always-on dashboard
- Unlimited site builds, unlimited writing, or an open-ended retainer
- Exposure of our internal tool stack
- A public scorecard product or free Checker / one-click score
- A separately sold “Assess tier,” or Sprint / Monitor / Defend as public sellable products
- A promise of rank position, SOV #1, appearing in every AI answer, or permanent occupancy
Acceptance
When Diagnosis is done, you can state:
- What to change first
- Why those fixes come first
- What “done” looks like for those items
We also lock a relevant prompt panel and record baseline mention rate and citation rate. Later retest (after an observation window) is before/after accountability—not a guarantee that rates will rise. For the shape of a locked panel, see the public locked English buying-prompt panel v1 (N=100 · Frozen 2026-07-26 · Before Pending)—client Engagement panels are locked in writing for that scope and need not match public v1.
After Diagnosis
Later On-site improvement and Bounded off-site proceed only under written scope expansion inside the same AEO/GEO Engagement—they do not auto-become an unlimited retainer, and Diagnosis is not a second product on a public pricing menu.
